Spindle Strategy Corp (Spindle) has been engaged by the leadership of The Royal and the Institute of Mental Health Research (IMHR) to support the development of a strategic research plan that 1) enables the research goals of the organization’s Integrated Strategy, strengthening synergies between research and care, and 2) support the growth plans for The Royal/IMHR as an Academic Health Science Center. Spindle is a management consulting firm focused on strategy development in the academic sector with a specialization in the life sciences.

Purpose: This survey was developed by Spindle to better understand the research ecosystem at The Royal/IMHR from the point of view of its diverse members. It will be used to inform the development of a strategic plan that is reflective of its constituents’ vision and perspectives.

Audience: Your insights are very important to us. We invite all researchers, clinicians, administrators, trainees, research staff, clients and family members at The Royal/IMHR to share their candid perspectives.

Use of information and confidentiality: Only Spindle staff will have access to individual responses. In any verbal or written communication about the survey (e.g. presentations and reports), Spindle will share only de-identified, aggregate information. We will also make efforts to ensure that data cannot be combined in a way that may identify any individual.

Anonymity: Please note the majority of questions in the survey, including your name, are optional.

Length: The survey should take 15-20 minutes to complete. Some questions invite you to reflect on complex topics such as an institutional vision for research, the Royal’s research impact, and emerging trends and imperatives in mental health research, which may require more time and focus..
